One of the sculptures that sparked the development of the bases. Too small to stand directly on tabletops, the sheep and the elephant would have been lost under the bowls. We needed a way to raise them and also ground them properly. After much pondering we decided a base of some sort may be the way. Sometimes something so simple can require a major change of thinking. We could not conceive of elegant solutions for bases before, the idea seemed awkward. Now, contrary to our original perceptions the idea has evolved into an integral part of the designs of some pieces.
